Lincoln did make moves to pay reparations for the losses suffered during slavery. Lincoln moved to pay indemnity to..slave owners! for their loss of "property" -and opportunity to make future profits. It was amazing how quickly legislation translated into action -as slave owners summed up their losses for claims. Its a good indication of the moral level of the nation. Someone said it well -slavery was "one of the most heinous sins for which I believe god will one day bring it to judgement." Its not true that reparations were never paid.
