Pro-Georgian Fauxtography?

by Ryan at 10:28 pm and filed under: PhotoSuck

Michelle Malkin usually jumps on the scent of falsified photos from war zones. She and her buddies refer to the phenomenon as “fauxtography.” She even has an extensive category on her site dedicated to the subject.

From Danger Room, we have allegations that Reuters, ire of Pajamas Media, may have fallen for some of this digital trickery:

Did major international media, including wire service Reuters, clumsily help spread pro-Georgian propaganda during the recent war with Russia? It appears so, based on apparently staged photos by George Abdaladze, a Reuters contributor.

Several blogs, most notably Byzantine Blog, have highlighted some, ahem, curious details in a series of photos claiming to portray civilian casualties of Russian attacks on the town of Gori.

This is exactly the kind of thing self-profess citizen journalists should be all over: They’re credible, truth-seeking, and viciously unbiased in their ability to check the media. Except when they aren’t.

Awful, awful Photoshop

Septic Fail.

Horrendous PhotoShop Job

The circled text reads, “Palin and newborn Trig, afflicted with Down syndrome.”

Not only does Michelle and at least one of her readers think John Edwards changed his name to Palin, but he also fathered a son, coincidentally given the same cool nerdy math name.
