Is Sarah Palin the Weak, Insecure Candidate?

by Ryan at 10:14 pm and filed under: Everything Else

Strangely, this one comes from the self-described atheist A la Pundit:

I’m not sure whether to take this purely at face value or to admire it as a brilliant political calculation as well. There’s no doubt, given her background, that her faith’s helping her through this; I just wonder why she’s calling Rick Warren instead of her own pastor.

So. Palin calls Rick Warren for spiritual advice while her accidental supporters cheer her on as the courageous

As an atheist, A la fails to make an important point that any non-Believer would jump on: She’s Sarah Palin the Candidate right now, but will Sarah Palin the Vice President need the spiritual guidance of a pop pastor to face down strong personalities like Putin and Chavez, much less Pelosi and Reed.

I realize that seeking spiritual strength and relevant Bible verses is one thing, but having to ask about “deal[ing] with the unfair, unjust attacks and the mean-spirited criticism that comes in” reeks of weakness.

The correct answer: “Suck it the fuck up. Ignore them. You decided to lay your past, present, and future down for scrutiny and ridicule.”

Will Michelle Continue to Trust the IDF?

by Ryan at 7:22 pm and filed under: Everything Else

antiwar.blog:

In its lead story August 1, the Hebrew edition of Ha’aretz online reported that the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) claim that Hezbollah missile launchers and Hezbollah fighters were in and around the building in Qana which they shelled early Sunday morning was false.

Initially, Israeli military sources had reported that the deaths in Qana where caused not by the Israeli air attack early Sunday morning, but by an accidental explosion, many hours later, of Hezbollah ordnance that was stored inside the building. According to the Ha’aretz article, this is not true. Israeli Air Force sources have admitted, according to Ha’aretz, that the deaths in Qana were caused by the Israeli shelling. Between 30 and 60 deaths were reported as a result of the building collapse. Many bodies are still believed to be buried beneath the rubble.

Additionally, the claim of the IDF that leaflets were dropped on the weekend warning of an attack were also untrue. The leaflets were actually delivered “some days” before the weekend, according to military sources.

Michelle has attempted to make hay out of “asking questions” concerning the atrocity at Qana. Just as with our own military’s penchant for covering up massacres as they have occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan, the IDF went into CYA mode and found the jingoblogs to be willing victims of misinformation and exploitation.

As a proud Pajamahideen and member of the New Media, I’m sure Malkin will be eager to give her readers a quick update and will question the veracity of Israeli military spokesmen in the future.

Malkin Replaces Coulter at Augusta Chronicle

by Ryan at 11:37 pm and filed under: Everything Else

From Editor & Publisher:

The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle has become the second newspaper to drop Ann Coulter’s column this month, explaining that her “stridency” had crossed the line.

Coulter, of Universal Press Syndicate, is being replaced by another conservative columnist — Michelle Malkin of Creators Syndicate.

As David Cross put it when describing the racism he observed in Boston after moving there from the Atlanta area: “Out of the frying pan, and into the other frying pan.”

The Liberal Avenger already told you to buy the latest Coup CD. If you haven’t, and need a few reasons, head over to the group’s MySpace page, where some downloads are available.

By the way, Michelle doesn’t like them.

A Couple Blogslaps

by Ryan at 2:14 pm and filed under: Everything Else

First from marymary of Michelle Malkin Is an Idiot! on the lynching story out of Nigeria and MM’s obsession with the lynchers’ religion.

Murderous thugs are murderous thugs. The Muslim religious fanatics who killed that poor Nigerian girl are no better or worse than the Christian religious fanatics who bomb abortion clinics or kill gays, or hang black men for dating white women. They’re called fanatics for a reason.

And The Liberal Avenger reminds us that sometimes an alarm clock is just an alarm clock. If I ever grow out my beard again, I’ll be sure to tape a 9-volt battery to it when I go to the airport. I mean not tape. That’s what I meant. Honest.

Neiwert on Malkin’s New World Order Conspiracy Theorists

by Ryan at 10:14 am and filed under: Everything Else, Gratuitous Insults, What Others Are Saying

David Neiwert wrote a great expansion of a little post I did recently. My position has not changed: Michelle needs to shut down The Immigration Blog, if only to preserve her own reputation. And the exit strategy is safe and succinct: No one’s reading it.

Raising a Photoshop Militia

by Ryan at 6:48 pm and filed under: Everything Else

MichelleMalkinIsAnIdiot.com has a couple WW2 poster pastiches up. Good stuff. [Link]

I know there are at a least a few regular MW readers who happen to be creative Photoshop enthusiasts. And everyone knows that there’s nothing more important to dedicate one’s Sunday evening to than making fools of the Malkinites.

Me? I don’t even know how to open Photoshop, much less pirate and attempt to operate it.

Update (6/27): Reader Ralph left a link to a MetaFilter roundup on the poster parody ConJob. Here are two gallery sets of older liberal remixes of some of these posters that you shouldn’t miss: Old American Century Galleries & WhiteHouse.org Patriotic Posters.

Malkin Repeats Fallaci Inaccuracy

by Ryan at 11:22 am and filed under: Everything Else

Michelle was on Pajamas Media “Blog Week in Review” panel a couple days ago. The MP3 can be downloaded here. One of the many topics covered is the beginning of Oriana Fallaci’s trial in Italy. (Begins at around the 23:00 mark.)

As I pointed out about a week ago, Fallaci does not face prison time, due to a January 2006 rewriting of the statute in question. In the podcast, Michelle exaggerates the (now revised) sentence as being three years in prison (where it was at one point only two years).

Michelle should, of course, know better. She ostensibly read the New Yorker profile on Fallaci that she linked to on July 12:

In January, Fallaci’s supporters in the Italian Senate pushed through an amendment to the code, reducing the maximum penalty to five thousand euros.

The law is still a joke, but this doesn’t excuse PJs Media from being just as ill-informed as the establishment media they are constantly railing against for the mere crime of not covering this story.

Help the Malkinites

by Ryan at 12:43 pm and filed under: Everything Else

I’m disappointed with the quality of the nicknames Michelle and Bryan have come up with for embattled, corrupt Democratic House member William J. Jefferson [Wikipedia article].

My entry: William “Antifreeze the Benjamins” Jefferson.

Leave yours in the comments. They’re in desperate need of a humor transfusion.
