It hasn’t been a full week, yet, but I think Saturdays are a good time to do a weekly roundup of sorts on my impressions.
The Malkinites have very low expectations of Palin and none for McCain; Obama and Biden are “Gaffe Twins.” It’s amazing that the Malkinites think it’s just alright that McCain doesn’t access the Internet or even use a computer, as the recent Obama ad suggests. The Internet is the bread and butter–quite literally–of the Malkins, Ed Morrissey, and A la Pundit; it should bother any blogger that McCain does not have a grasp of the security, financial, and neutrality issues facing the Net. Of course, they’ll argue, “He’ll appoint good people!” But, by definition, he won’t be able to judge anyone’s knowledge on these subjects. (And John “P.O.W.” McCain’s various disabilities may preclude his use of a typewriter–no excuse for not knowing about computer systems. The guy wants to be the Prez after all!)
Sarah Palin didn’t have any idea what the Bush Doctrine is! Therefore she’s more qualified than ever before! I knew of at least a couple ways of defining the term, but Palin didn’t even know one. But that’s gravy with everyone else: They needed Teh Gazoogle to find out about it. Corollary: Both Noam Chomsky and myself are too well-versed in recent American history to hold public office. Zing!
Malkin and her peeps are very confident right now. They really don’t trust McCain, and they’ve fallen for the Palin ruse. Where does this leave them? They are consistently only sharing polls with me that show McCain is tied or taking the lead. All political analysis is being forced into the “Obama’s doomed; Go Palin/McCain” frame. Sad really. They’re reminding me of DUers four years ago.
