Serge Gainsbourg Is the Coolest Dead Man
McBoing-Boing is calling out your idols. Because I learned long ago that the statement, “Nick Cave is the coolest man alive,” is tautological, I’ll have to reach a bit farther into the archives.
You think Elvis could have kept his cool around a Thompson submachine gun-wieldling Brigitte Bardot? Nick Cave *may* have been able to pull it off. Maybe.
I do have to express my disappointment in both of the videos referenced here. The songs they’re based on are uncommonly cinematic, and it’s a shame that their respective producers didn’t have the resources to go all out.
Clearly Gainsbourg is the coolest man dead. It’s the DeNiro thing he has going on in this video.
And I second you on the video directors.
