Throw the Republicans Off the Bridge!

by Ryan at 12:42 am and filed under: Everything Else

Over at the fantastic failure known as The Immigration Blog, David Orland states, “While there’s still time to make our voices heard, it’s quickly running out. Take a moment and tell your Congressman what you think, by telephone or brick.”

At least through the miracle of hyperlinks, we won’t have to worry about historians concluding that unhinged, early 21st century nativists would actually throw bricks through the windows of their Congresspeople.

(As for the title of this post, it’s based on a Roman phrase referring to the pons suffragiorum.)

  1. Ryan:
What is the point of this post?
Some friendly advice: try posting something interesting, understandable, and worthy of discussion. You will see the comments rise accordingly. Avoid obscure Latin references and jealous jabs at other, more successful blogs. The Immigration Blog is a “fantastic failure?” Gee, someone should let them know.

I used to come here for the laughs, but this is just getting sad. Auguste could usually be counted on for some laughs, even though I strongly disagreed with his sentiments. OK, seeing you try to PC the word “Congressman” was good for a chuckle. “CongressPEOPLE?” Kind of akward, isn’t it?
By the way, I think policePEOPLE do a wonderful job of serving and protecting us. Heh…policePEOPLE.

  3. People have been saying Congresspeople for at least a couple decades. Do you live in a cave?

  4. Oh yes Con KY came her for 2 posts back in May. THAT’S A LONG HISTORY.

“Yawn.” Exactly. It’s what people do when they read your posts.

    D. Sidhe:
Yeah, you’re right, now that I think of it…in my early cave-dwelling days I remember people using the term CongressPEOPLE…LOL!

    Skippy:
How the f’ do you know how long I’ve been coming to this site? (Imitating voice of Cartman from SouthPark): “Heheh, Skippy, You suck dude!”

Ryan: Seriously, I know you don’t care what I think - but believe it or not (I know its hard because there are never any comments to your posts) some wingnut conservatives DO actually look at this site from time to time - and you might garner some interesting discussions if you posted about interesting topics, which don’t include pointing out the hilarity of sending bricks to CongressPEOPLE to register displeasure with the direction that immigration legislation is taking.

  6. Con Ky to me:

…some wingnut conservatives DO actually look at this site from time to time - and you might garner some interesting discussions if you posted about interesting topics, which don’t include pointing out the hilarity of sending bricks to CongressPEOPLE to register displeasure with the direction that immigration legislation is taking.

Now this has the potential to become an interesting discussion, CK. Just as on MM.com and HotAir.com, there is a prominent, accessible link to this site’s sitemeter stats on each page. You can currently find it above the blogsome advertisement on the sidebar. Take a look.

Save for some extra traffic due to links associated with the transition that you seem upset about, the readership appears to be unchanged. It’s not large at all, but the regular audience, in my opinion, deserves daily updates, no matter the level of shittiness of the writing. Frankly, not every post can be “Ghost Blogging” .

But if MW is hemorrhaging readers, it should become clear over the next month, or so.

This isn’t exactly what you’re saying, though. You seem to think (1) that I care about the length of my comment threads and (2) that this site would foster worthwhile, bipartisan discussion, if I were to just set a reasonable tone devoid of anything resembling difficult, abstract, borderline insane concepts. (Just because Michelle can’t conjure up the first two, doesn’t mean I can’t demand that she meet me half-way on the third. “Wah-mbulance”? Please….)

I started reading Auguste’s MW back in Feb. 2005. I don’t recall this site’s top secret mission statement ever including “[garnering] some interesting discussions” with conservatives. I’d be interested to see if you could turn anything of the sort up — not that it would make a difference, of course.

Back to the topic of the OP: Your initial comment questioned the point of this post. I’ll leave it at this: Michelle and Jesse are educated enough to have probably understood the point of this post without having to look up a single thing.
