Is “coddle” really the right word to use here? Seems to me they’re just enforcing the laws.

I don’t recall the last time any protester has been “coddled.” Perhaps they and their ilk need to be provided some video of how protesters have been treated from say the civil rights disruptions in the South in the 50’s to World Trade Organization protests to these. Yet another example of Malkinisms: say a word enough and it becomes true.
It is interesting, as well, that some on the right are beginning to see these actions as the “jack booted thugs” that the President’s father mentioned 15 years ago.
