Almost Auguste-like…

by Auguste at 12:16 am and filed under: Breaking the fourth wall

…so abrupt was Malkin’s announcement of vacation. And in a week where immigration is the most forthright issue in the news…

It’s not spring break in Maryland yet…I’m certain it has nothing whatsoever to do the recent revelations of Ben Domenech’s plagiarism, his resignation from Regnery, and/or the resulting fact that Malkin’s last two books were edited by a proven plagiarist.

  1. There is no question that Ben Domenech is/was a rancid plagiarist. That having been said, there is no evidence to suggest that any of Malkin’s work was a fraud. And unless such evidence comes to light, it is unfair to Malkin to even go in that direction. An important to point to remember is that Domenech edited her books. Meaning, that he was already working with somebody else’s stuff. It’s not as though he claimed to have written any of her books himself.

I think the fact that she pretty directly disowned him when the scandal broke speaks well of her character. Not exactly like Dan Rather defending Mary Mapes.

  2. Maybe she needs some time to recover from Ike- I mean Jesse’s most recent “corrections”.

  3. School is closed today in Montgomery County (Teacher day or something). Maybe she’s taking the long weekend.

Or maybe she’s lined up an exclusive interview with Jill Carroll…

  4. Allahpundit is doing a very good job in her absense though. I wish he was still a regular blogger. He’s got a good style. Too many conservative bloggers post-rathergate have lost their edge and become repetitive.
