I thought I’d seen post volume before from Malkin, but the Danish cartoon “war” really takes the cake. I’d really hate to see the bandwidth bill for picture after picture of wild-eyed Muslims running rampant in the streets.
What I find fascinating is the level of disconnect between the blogosphere’s focus on this issue and the “real world.” People I spoke to over Super Bowl weekend didn’t even know what I was talking about. Hell, I heard more about the Sensenbrenner Bill - right in Malkin’s wheelhouse, you’d think - this weekend than I did the Danish cartoons.
I’m not saying it’s not a story. It is - and no one looks particularly good in it, least of all the Muslims who are protesting. But the fact is that the amount of words being devoted to the protests by the right-wing blogosphere is so clearly opportunism - so clearly a case of “now’s our chance!” - that the only remaining question is “your chance for what?”
Well, giving Malkin et al. the benefit of the doubt for a moment - that they aren’t suicidal armaggedonists, although who the hell knows anymore - I think it’s fair to say that they’d much rather spend their, and your, time on Danish cartoons and Muslim reactions than, say, this.
Or this.
Or this.
Plus the fact that they hate Muslims. I mean, they really hate Muslims.
